USHER GUILD

The Usher Guild aims to serve Christ and His Church. As part of our dedicated service as ushers of the Church, we aim to convey friendliness and hospitality to all worshippers.

We are aware that the first impression a parishioner or guest of the Parish will gain on entering the Church will be the greeting of the Ushers; therefore we aim to be friendly, helpful, and courteous.   We always remember that the person entering the Church is coming to worship Almighty God; therefore, we endeavor to let our welcome be cordial, enthusiastic, dignified and graceful.

Before worshippers arrive, we ensure that bulletins, prayer books, hymnals, and other printed handouts are neatly arranged and that the church is tidy.  We set the tone by offering the first welcome, that all are seated comfortably, and that visitors are aware of the order of service.  Ushers take an accurate count of all congregants present at the worship service, as well as an accurate record of communicants.  We handle any disruption or emergency with tact and common sense. We are tasked with taking the collection, and presenting all gifts to the Altar; as well as ensuring the efficiency and flow of the Holy Communion.

If you are interested in becoming trained as an Usher, please email Hyacinth Hutchinson at hya1943@aol.com or Norma Byfield at nefield@verizon.net

I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of ungodliness.
