The relationship between St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, Queens Village, and the Anglican Diocese of Wiawso began when Father Lloyd Anthony was able to assist a homeless man and his ill mother during his pastoral visits to Goldwater Hospital on Roosevelt Island, NY.
Upon reaching out to the Bishop of Sefwi, Wiawso, the Right Reverend Abraham K. Ackah, Father Anthony was able to arrange for this small Ghanaian family to return home.
As a result of their correspondence and conversations, Bishop Ackah extended an invitation for Fr. and Mrs. Anthony to travel to Ghana in 2009. At that time, Fr. Anthony was installed as a Canon.
Outreach to a single person has been fruitful and has extended across the Anglican Communion.
Canon Anthony and St. Joseph’s look forward deepening this fellowship as we all seek to spread the joy and love of Jesus Christ.
